Description : We started the recruitment of chronic HBV patients in 2005. Our cohort consists of more than 1260 patients of which 250 are treated (19.8%). In our daily practice, hepatitis B poses a considerable health problem due to the late diagnosis of the infection and its complications (cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma).

Burkina Faso is among the poorest countries of the world, and chronic carriers of hepatitis B virus pose a problem of diagnosis, follow-up and treatment, due to the lack of financial means. Our team aim to improve the care of patients living with HBV in Burkina Faso, through a global approach with all the levels and actors involved in the response to this life-threatening disease: political level, health professional level, patient level.
