Description:  The cohort at Stellenbosch University includes adults with HBV, with and without HIV coinfection receiving on-going care from the either the Gastroenterology Clinic or the Infectious Diseases  Clinic at Tygerberg Hospital. Tygerberg Hospital, the largest hospital in the Western Cape province of South Africa, is a tertiary care hospital and serves as a teaching hospital in conjunction with the Stellenbosch University Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. Hepatitis research at Stellenbosch University is conducted by an inter-discipline team consisting of specialist physicians and scientists, with collaborations within South Africa and beyond.
